about

This studio album has been created using three handpans: Dorian hang, Integral Hang and a Halo Pigmy.
PanArt made the firts Hang in Bern Switzerland, in 2001.
Pantheon Steel created the Halo in Farmington, Missouri, USA, in 2006.

‘In het luisteren bloeit de Stilte’

I am looking for a way to affect the daily transit with sound. Generating sensitive listening and quiet spaces, where acoustic and emotional intimacy may arise.

In my playing I combine composition and improvisation, building simple and long melodic progressions that evolve organically creating rhythmical series of signals and responses. Sometimes extensive repetitions of two or three notes drive me into a state of internal observation, where the feeling and the sound continuously feedback one another.

Hobelasai, (better calm / mejor tranquilo in Basque language), is a call to decelerate and listen. A daily ritual as a silent revolution.

Some of these tracks have been mixed with live recordings aiming to bring a taste of my travels and the people I encountered.
